“What do you remember? Who keeps you afloat when the grounds, below and around you, rupture and fissure? What norms do you absorb or push against? These questions and their formidable, yet fragile, solutions envelope the works of Danish visual artist Lotte Nielsen. Communicating using the medium of filmmaking, we enter into autobiographical stories crossing poetic kaleidoscopes of identity in resistance to global constructs of heteronormativity. Nielsen’s films bridge struggles and resiliencies of queer communities across varied cities, colored by magical surrealist atmospheres, while tethered to experienced truths. Lives bustle with brazen and unabashed intimacies. We witness risks of physical and societal safety, to sing in sacrifice to flesh and love.”
